Founder with coffin bone protrusion - The story of Tess
Tess, a standard bred mare about 18yo.
This is a photo I took of Tess at my first visit in February 2004. Tess had foundered in all four feet the previous December (03) and after 2 months of conventional treatment and trimming, she was still in great discomfort. All attempts to get her to stand up at this visit were fruitless.

There are friends and faces that may be forgotten,
but there are horses that never will be.

Navicular - The Story of Jack
Jack is an 8yo Thoroughbred/QH X diagnosed with Navicular syndrome in 2002. This is a recent photo of Jack who now lives with a herd of 12 horses on a 50 acre natural agistment/boarding property in Victoria, Australia.
This is the story of Lily - a one year old QH filly that was released to Reshad Oberlander (SHP). The photo was taken prior to her first trim in October 2002.
Lily now lives in a small herd with a friend of mine and I take care of her feet.
Extensor Bearing - The Story of Lily
This is a page with some of my case history stories.
They are sad stories with happy endings, but not all damaged/lamed horses have happy endings. Some we can save to go back to sound riding/competing horses. Some will only ever be sound enough to wander around the field with their friends and some we will be too late to help.
The sad fact is that many hundreds if not thousands of horses in Australia die every year from incurable lameness, and what is sadder still is that many could have been prevented and/or saved if their owners had known of the great benefits and possibilities of barefoot rehabilitation and going the barefoot/natural lifestyle route.
By sharing these stories I can show you what is possible. I may even give hope to some looking for help but my real message is to implore people to give their young, still sound horses a barefoot/natural lifestyle throughout their entire life and thus help prevent lameness and poor health in the future. Our horses deserve it !
